In 1946, the Warriors story began in Philadelphia, over 3000 miles from its current home in Oakland, California. The franchise moved to California's Bay Area in 1962 and eventually adopted the name 'Golden State' —referencing the state's nickname and discovery of gold. Over the years, the Warriors have won 2 championships, 6 conference and 2 division titles. They play in the Pacific Division of the NBA's Western Conference.
